Greenfield Lake, Wilmington NC

A longer walk with some spectacular scenery, Greenfield Lake [421 South Burnett Boulevard, Wilmington, NC 28402] is a getaway right in the middle of the city.

The five mile path leading around the lake and through a quiet neighborhood was speckled with azaleas in the spring time.

Enjoy the quiet of the Fragrance Garden.

Spanish moss drapes off of cypress trees along and inside of the lake.

Find one of many unique gazebos sporadically placed along the trail, a great spot to stop and look for wildlife.

A big gator made an appearance.

The tiniest turtle I’ve ever seen!

Much bigger ones chasing after minnows.

Even soft shell turtles.

Plenty of ducks, geese, and songbirds live at the lake.

I appreciate the fact that mileage is marked.

There are boat rentals, tennis courts, and a skate park in the 250 acre space.
