Ever find a restaurant so good, you have to go there twice (even if your trip is just a week long)?! Gourdough’s is that place, known for their epic donuts. There are two locations in Austin, Texas, if you’re looking for just dessert, hit up their Gourdough’s Big Fat Donuts airstream food truck.
We picked two donut orders and split them – they are made hot and fresh on the scene. The blue balls are donut holes with blueberry filling and blue icing.
Talk about a sugar rush, but they are entirely addictive! Up next was the sin-a-bomb, coated with cream cheese icing and doused with cinnamon sugar butter – a combination I could live in.
This donut is my definition of heaven. Dessert was so good, we were thinking about it every day. We decided to try out the brick and mortar Gordough’s Public House location for a proper dinner, followed by more dessert! My husband got the dirty south, a hand battered chicken fried steak with potato pancake, creamy white gravy, & cranberry habanero jam – it was legendary.
I went for grandma’s dumplins – slow cooked chicken & donut hole dumplings, with a side garlic donut (which made the dish!).
As if our entrée donuts weren’t enough, we split the black betty donut topped with a house made blackberry compote, cream cheese icing, cake mix, cinnamon sugar, and honey butter.
Absolutely divine! If you do brunch, tell me how it is, I know it’ll be my first stop next time in the city.
