Exploring Downtown Little Rock: La Petite Roche

The Arkansas River Trail is an 88-mile loop that cuts right through the heart of downtown Little Rock. Though the natural beauty in other locations along the trail may potentially be more stunning, the stretch right in the heart of the capital city is quite exciting! A number of contemporary sculptures dot the shore.

Along with dedicated memorials to historic figures, such as this dashing Revolutionary War hero!

There is plenty of history to learn heading back to the founding of the city in the early 1800s.

Wind your way under bridges,

and through lush fern laden tunnels.

Cross the river if you’d like on Junction Bridge.

It is easy to enjoy your time spent in this area jam packed with sights, but make sure you don’t miss visiting the little rock.

Right here is where the city was given its name in 1722 by a French explorer, Benard de la Harpe, called a noticeable rock outcropping La Petite Roche.

This section of the trail brings the past and present together in a truly unique manner, a must explore area of Little Rock!
