Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock

A wonderful mix of classic and contemporary, don’t forget the arts on your trip to Little Rock.

The Arkansas Arts Center is located in MacArthur Park, with both free admission and parking, it is the perfect way to spend an hour or more in the city.

You’ll find recognized painters such as Monet, Picasso, Diego Rivera, sculptures by Rodin, and glass by Tiffany.

Dream like scenes from Chagall will sweep your thoughts away.

Perhaps you’ll find new artists to admire, such as the folksy Carroll Cloar.

Or the surreal Andrew Wyeth.

Some paintings are beyond outlandish, good for a laugh.

Other such as this wood engraving collage on paper warm the heart and make you think of an era gone by.

An interesting collection from Paul Signac, one of my favorites from the impressionist era, has the most calming blue backdrop.

Fans are more accustomed to seeing his stipulated oil paintings, not the watercolors that line this room.

I loved the accompanying text and learning that his paintings were inspired by sailing voyages traveling the coasts, rivers, and canals of France and later, Venice, Netherlands, Constantinople, and Corsica. If you are looking for a different experience at the museum, there are ceramics, jewelry, and painting classes for both children and adults along.
