Hike the Tinglewood Trail in Orr Park, Alabama

In between Birmingham and Montgomery is a magical trail with trees who took shape in the most peculiar way. Find your way to Orr Park and you will see the Tinglewood Trail is something out of a storybook. A stroll beside the Shoal Creek under the shade of cedar trees would have been lovely enough, but artist Time Tingle envisioned a special sight.

When a storm killed many of the older trees, he decided to give them a second chance at life. He carved soulful faces into their crevices to the delight of visitors.

It is truly a treasure hunt to discover the 30+ sculptures nestled along the creekside trail, each has a different persona. Some goofy.

Some whimsical.

Others with crazy hair.

Or in midsentence.

And a few with friends.

There are a few mythical creatures mingled in with the faces.

Wizards.

Dragons.

And spiritual totems.

The park is truly alive with nature, there were so many red-headed woodpeckers, fish, and butterflies along the path.

Take time to read the words of the Lorax and leave no trace in this place, carry that sentiment with you wherever you go.

There are picnic tables, a ballfield, and additional walking trails so you can easily spend a few hours enjoying this fairytale setting.
