Visit Aldridge Garden in Birmingham, Alabama

A quaint stroll around the lake to smell the flowers and listen to the birds sing is the perfect addition to any day. Aldridge Garden is a gem nestled into the greater Birmingham region.

The centerpiece of the garden is surely the lake and the half-mile walking trail around it.

Through the woods and over the bridge it is an ever interesting path.

You may find a funny face.

Or run into a little family of geese.

Among the most charming elements of the park has to be its sculptures on permanent display.

The real bunnies, turtles, and frogs that you may see are personified for your imagination.

The little frogs fishing on the banks of the lake were just so sweet, with their accompanying poem “On My Pond” by Kermit the Frog:

Look at the grass all around me

It’s green as the smile on my face

Look at the trees as they astound me

Wow, what a beautiful place

Aldridge has the largest collection of hydrangeas in the state, but they weren’t in bloom during my visit. That didn’t mean there wasn’t a boom blossoming of color!

While this garden is small and doesn’t take more than an hour to explore in its entirety – it exudes a special air of serenity.

Good to know:

+Access to the garden is free

+Hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily
