Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Alabama

One of the greatest things you can do for your senses in Magic City is stop and smell the roses at Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

The immaculate rose garden is just one of the dozens of unique gardens along the miles of pathways inside this amazing park.

Don’t miss a visit to the conservatory, warm and dry no matter what the weather is outside.

A tropical paradise takes you away to a land of lush ferns and colorful bromeliads.

Back outside a visit to the bog garden is a must, with its numerous carnivorous plants.

Beside it hilly woodland paths stroll by mountain laurel blossoming in springtime.

One of the many outdoor sculptures blends in perfectly with its surroundings, enhancing the atmosphere for a keen onlooker.

My favorite space of all was the gracefully cultivated Japanese garden, internationally known.

It’s authentic tea house is perfectly zen.

The design of the wooden bridge over the lake is inspiring. Koi fish find a tiny waterfall for a massage, frogs dive in from the waters edge, and an egret looks on for a meal.

An iconic arching red bridge with a backdrop of bamboo makes for the perfect picture.

Wandering the garden is a pleasure on its own, but if you plan your day accordingly there are many programs and events offered. Children can hear fairytales in the garden and paint rocks. Adults may partake in the Thyme to Read book club and can obtain their certificate in native plant studies.

Is there a special discounted parking venue for the Garden show this year? Last year we parked at Etihad & caught a shuttle bus over to the show & returned back to our parking.
