The Heavenly Donut Co Birmingham, in Alabama

Have you ever eaten a hexagonal donut? The Heavenly Donut Co is known not only for their uniquely shaped and handcrafted donuts, but also their glorious flavor.

If you’re dining in, the space is large and homey. There is a take a book, leave a book shelf so you can enjoy some literature over donuts.

The selection is vast, keeping to more classic ideas, without being over the top trendy.

Each individual donut sampled was a standalone winner, there wasn’t a single bite I didn’t appreciate. The lemon lavender was delicate and flavorful. The French toast had a killer texture. The fritter was the perfect mix of sweet and savory. The strawberry was unique from most in its division, with a more cake-like icing topping. The chocolate covered raspberry filled Bismarck had to be fetched from the back, fresh, as it is a very popular choice. It was reminiscent of this chocolate raspberry cookie from the grocery store I used to have with my grandpa when I was a kid…but I can’t place my finger on what it was called.

I’m sure anything you could pick from the great variety would be divine. Parking was easy in the adjacent lot. If you’re catering an event the company has food trucks named “Dough Rider” and “Vincent Van Dough” – sure to be a sensation!
