Located in downtown Memphis, Beale Street is the home of the Blues. Laden with nightclubs, BBQ restaurants, and rich in neon walking on Beale is a busy must-see American icon.
The main blocks are closed off to traffic, creating an air of ease – but the street continues all the way to the Mississippi River. Beale was a blossom place for black entrepreneurs and a rallying place during the Civil Rights movement.

Handy Park is the epicenter of the area, frequently hosting free concerts. Standing guard outside is W. C. Handy, father of the blues.
If it gets too hot, pop into A Schwab Dry Goods to have a look around the general store and a cold homemade root beer from the old fashioned soda fountain.
