Visit the Sunsphere in World’s Fair Park, Knoxville Tennessee

A golden disco ball dominates the skyline in Knoxville, Tennessee. The iconic Sunsphere was built in 1982 for the World’s Fair held in the city.

It stands 266 ft tall and houses a free observation deck with a 360 degree view.

With such a great attraction, how is it that there were no crowds? Beats me, but I was happy to have the place all to myself. Up in the sky you won’t only find a great view, but many interesting facts too. I learned that the Sunsphere was featured in a Simpson’s episode and that Knoxville was the original capital of Tennessee.

After thoroughly enjoying the displays, a walk around the World’s Fair Park is in order.

Amongst the fountains, waterfalls, and flowering trees – this is a truly lovely place to be.
