Find fresh and simple goodness in a local fishing village at Charlene’s Bayside Restaurant [9657 Highway 105 Whycocomagh, NS B0E 3M0 Canada], just the experience you need when traveling through Nova Scotia.
The vibe is nautically home-y and service is friendly.
Everything has a homemade taste here from start to finish. The garden fresh salads veggies were so clean and crisp.
People come from near and far for the seafood chowder. It is made with seven different types of seafood and contains no filler. This bowl had barely any room for broth as there was so much meat in it, an amazingly generous portion.
Even the baked rolls taste like your grandmothers recipe. Dessert was surprising, for a slice of blueberry pie. The berries are local and you feel each gush with every bite.
What was interesting was the pie was not very sweet and it was extremely light and airy. The food at this restaurant is simple, honest, and good – a fine place to stop on Cape Breton Island.
