Laundry is not one of my favorite chores, but I could see that changing if I lived in Brooklyn. You see, Sunshine Laundromat [860 Manhattan Ave Brooklyn, NY 11222] could make the bothersome task almost an exciting treat, considering between loads you can play loads of pinball in a killer bar.
Or you can forget the laundry all together, your choice. Walking in you’d think this is just a regular laundromat, with a machine or two. They do not flaunt what they’ve got for the uninformed passing by. Don’t be deceived. Head to the back and you’ll notice the beguiling washing machine – actually a door transporting you into a barcade with a delightfully devious speakeasy feel.
Man this place is cool and it has a great crowd, but never so much that you can’t get on a machine.
There are some older classics, even a version of The Simpsons I haven’t seen before.
Also all the newer games, they even recently acquired the 2017 Dialed In!
If you’re out of quarters, there are also plenty of boardgames. On certain nights, you might even be so lucky to meet the deliciously adorable duo of chocolate labs.
Laundry day can be the day of the week you look forward to most, if you’re doing it at Sunshine.
I believe newer ones cost 8-10K, so a pretty penny.
Do you have any idea what pinball machines cost?
