Dessert in Sarasota, Florida

Yoder’s Restaurant, 3434 Bahia Vista St, Sarasota, FL 34239

You may notice a population of Amish people biking around the streets of Sarasota – the area has opportunity for year round farming which is perfect for the community.

You can sample some great Amish home cooking, stock up at the produce market, or grab some gifts at the shop. I was just there for one thing though – the made from scratch pie. There are so many flavors including coconut cream, key lime, baked peach – and what I got – home made butterscotch. I ordered at the window and a few minutes later my name was called. What came out was a perfect hunk of buttery crust, succulent filling, and heavenly whipped topping with a sprinkling of kisses.

Meaney’s Mini Donuts, 205 Canal Rd, Siesta Key, FL 34242

Ever had donuts on a stick? Sometimes a novelty is worth trying alone, but it helps when the idea is backed with deliciousness. Just off the beach with that endless summer style, walk right up and order at the window.

They fry the mini donuts up fresh,

you get to pick the toppings, and they get skewered.

If you get six they allow you to choose two different flavors, the more the merrier.

These minis are so yummy they don’t last very long – you might be popping right back on line for more!
