In the heart of the Mission District this is the quintessential bakery of San Francisco: Tartine [600 Guerrero St, San Francisco, CA 94110]. Come in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner they’re open until 7 or 8PM depending on the night. Early on consider a morning bun with cinnamon sugar and candied orange paired with coffee, tea, or fresh juice. Tell me how it is, because they were woefully gone for the day on my late arrival and usually sell out early on. Hot pressed sandwiches on some of the famed freshly baked bread later on in the day, with wine and beer. I came in simply for dessert, and went with the Frangipane Tart.
The mildly sweet and flaky pastry was filled with almond cream and topped with blueberries and almond slivers, it’s worth the line.
