I took a few classes at Hudson Valley Community College to satisfy undergrad deficiencies for my Masters Degree. Learning sure can make you hungry and I would come off campus around lunch time and look longingly at the nearby Deli and Brew [64 Vandenburgh Ave, Troy, NY 12180].
I never did make it there back then as I had to hurry off to work, but I also never forgot about its existence, storing it neatly in an alcove filing cabinet of my brain. One Sunday we had been out hiking all day and worked up a big ole sandwich craving appetite. It was late and most places close early on Sunday, but this awesome deli stays open to a reasonable 7pm, we were in! There is a lot going on here. Generally: sandwiches, pizza, and salad. What’s homemade? Soups, pasta salad, roast beef, and slow-smoked bbq beef brisket.
Plus they have a huge selection of beer and you’ll find Dr Brown’s soda.
So I ordered my go to deli sandwich, a chicken cutlet with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onion which they whipped up in a jiff.
And when it came out, my lord. It was borderline insane. No human in their right mind could down this monstrosity in one sitting! However, it was as good for the next day’s lunch as it was on initial impact. Man it was tasty, fluffy sub roll, crisp veggies, and grade A chicken cutlet!
Next time I think I’m going to try the Troylet, with chicken, roasted red peppers, mozz, and pesto…nothing sounds more appetizing!
