Finally. Finally we had a Saturday morning in. It was strange, it was wonderful, it felt normal. I even suggested we go for brunch locally, like normal people do. We haven’t done that in years (normal for us is strange – I choke down my coffee and take my yogurt in the car at the crack of dawn so we can head to some far off destination). The French Press Cafe & Creperie [5 Clinton Square, Albany, NY 12207] had been on my list of places to eat forever and finally! we got there.
Order at the counter and take a seat. Inside was painted a peaceful sky blue, there were large windows for people watching, and a lot of games to choose from.
It was such a nice day though, the summer heat had finally broken, I couldn’t resist sitting on the patio. One thing I love about crepes is how quickly they cook. In no time our waitress came out with our order, a slice of France right in Albany. We decided to split a savory and sweet option. The Palace crepe had two favorites inside, nutella and banana. We chose to get mixed berries on the side, it was perfection! The crepe batter was delicate and buttery, there was just the right amount of filling, and the berries/whipped cream added an extra layer of excitement.
Our savory crepe choice was The Pearl. We swapped ham for bacon, and got the normal egg and swiss, plus a side of breakfast potatoes. It was excellent. They didn’t look like much when plated, but the potatoes were so simple and yummy! I am so glad some place I had looked forward to for so long, so lived up to my expectations.
