The Hudson Valley has a lot of crazy scrambly and steep mountain hikes. Sometimes you just want a relaxing stroll. Little Stony Point [intersection Route 9D and Fair St, Cold Spring, NY] is a one mile loop that does not lack natural beauty, but is family friendly and super scenic hike, right across the street from Bull Hill.
Cross the bridge over the railroad tracks and head right until you curve around to the river.
It’s a majestic bubbly view from the beach of the Hudson River.
Follow the path along the river to the left towards the cliff and woods.
Perhaps do a bit of spelunking along the way.
In early spring the hike was peaceful, the beach was almost deserted.
When back in the forest, hang left and make a quick climb up the perch where more exceptional views await.
As you make your way down the steep little spur you’ll noticed you’re just about back where you started.
