Dine al fresco in Great Barrington beside the pines of Main Street, feast upon elevated junk food as kings of the Berkshires!
The Bistro Box [937 S Main St Great Barrington, MA 01230] is my favorite place to go after a gruelingly wonderful day of hiking and exploring Western Mass, if the weather is right.
It may look like just a little roadside stop, but when this seasonal space is open it is always packed. They take me as is, and what they have to offer is pretty fantastic. The menu is simple, but anyone can be satisfied from it. Fear not…health nuts are catered too as well, as there are salads and grilled options. On our first visit we went all out, throwing caution to the wind. We desired their hand cut fries with toasted garlic and fresh herbs….but also the crispy onion rings with box sauce. So addictively hot, fresh, and delicious that I had trouble trying to get to my main course…though when I did I was more than pleasantly surprised.
I went for the turkey BLT wrap which had fresh herb mayo and excellently crisp comprised ingredients.
It was a large portion, or maybe I was just stuffed from my snacks. The second half tasted just as amazing at work the next day. Jeff went for the pressed Cuban, ham, turkey, swiss, pickles, and Dijon mayo. He’s lucky I’m not a fan of ham, because it looked so crunchy good I would have been all over it. Eating casual does not mean you need to suffer from lack of quality. Bistro Box is the best of both worlds!
