Quiet trails in the sleepy hamlet of Rexford are a great spot for birding, learning, fresh air, and exercise. Garnsey Park [Route 146 between Waite and Wing roads, Rexford NY 12148] has over two miles of trails through meadow, forest, and wetland habitats.
Clear blue skies on an early spring were perfectly crisp. Sumacs sprouted up swirling ever skyward.
We made our way into the forest and found the mile long Ridge Loop. The loop was filled with the sounds of spring, birds chirping and chipmunks rustling about. What was unique about this loop were the colorful and interesting fun facts scattered about!
A few ups and downs, rocks and roots, and out into another field. This time looking over the pale blue mountains far in the distance.
The trails are a quiet peaceful way to spend some time in the suburbs.
