Searching for a satisfying sandwich in the Clifton Park area? I’ve got a great local spot for you to check out. The Halfmoon Sandwich Shoppe [1613 U.S. 9, Clifton Park, NY 12065] is bigger on the inside!
Well, probably not, but you’ll be surprised to see how much seating is available. A black and white checkerboard floor and bright red seats, there is definitely a classic look here.
I also loved the iconic local photographs hanging on the walls, especially one which shows the building of the twin bridges.
Really though, on to more important things – like the food! You order up at the counter and your food is brought to the table. They are also known for their breakfast sandwiches, specifically the lumberjack: 3 eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, and american topped with homefries on a hero. It screams Gaston. Typical deli sandwiches made with boar’s head cold cuts, specialty sandwiches, build your own salads, and hot from the kitchen items including such as wings, burgers, and homemade spring rolls are all available. On this day, we both went for paninis. I for the P4: bacon, turkey, cheddar, Russian and he for the P8: roast beef, horseradish cheddar, caramelized onions, bacon, horseradish sauce.
They were simply made, but so darn good. The sandwiches came out hot and melty, great flavor combos. The crisp on the panini was fantastic, the ingredients were fresh. Half got saved for the next day because we tried out some accompaniments. A bit of pasta salad was tangy and delightful.
The rainbow cookies were excellent, different with extra tiers of almond paste.
I was really comfortable, happy, and completely satisfied with my meal and experience – can’t wait to come back and try that breakfast out.
