Fresh, fancy, fit for a king frozen yogurt. Over the past few years a lot of different frozen yogurts spots popped up and in height of the craze, which spot do you choose to go to? Ayelada [1210 Troy Schenectady Rd, Latham, NY 12110] is the Greek word for Cow, and this local shop starts with the basics building up to an impeccable product. Milk and yogurt are sourced from independent farms, flavors and toppings are often sourced locally as well. There are only four flavors available (they change weekly) because small batches are made on site each day. Some fun past flavors have included cider donut, lavender honey, creamsicle, and peanut butter, using ingredients from local sources Honeyrun Farm and the Peanut Principle. The experience here is a bit different from your average self serve froyo joint. The employees will make your cup for you and each size is one staple price. Complimentary toppings are available including local honey, plus chocolate, cinnamon, and nutmeg. When we visited watermelon was on the rotation and it was perfect!
Not overly sweet, but bursting with fruity flavor! We loaded on the toppings and especially loved the fresh fruit. The first time we visited it was a little difficult to find, maybe because of the direction we were heading from. It was tucked right next to the Starbucks, so if you see that you’re in the right spot! Now that we know how amazingly delicious this local joint with a focus on making a quality product is…we’ve picked our frozen yogurt spot. If you’re over in the Berkshires, they have an additional location in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. As the weather warms up, treat yourself to some amazing local froyo!
