The Flying Chicken, Troy Eats

It’s not everyday that you find a restaurant you feel understands your soul. Jazz, pinball, and fried chicken. One faithful Sunday we decided to stay close to home and explore spots that have been on my ‘list of things to do’ forever. The Flying Chicken [122 4th St, Troy, NY 12180] was finally at the top of the list!

the_flying_chicken_We got a spot right outside, kismet. I always notice first when there is local art on the walls, it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that the people who run this place care about the community.

While fried chicken is most definitely indulgent, the Flying Chicken serves you the perfect amount. I was filled from the meal, but I wasn’t left sluggish. I could go on for days, but then there was Jeff’s dish. He got the Waffley Good sandwich with fried chicken and bacon on a waffle bun, totally smothered with maple sausage gravy.

Just writing about these sandwiches I’m positively drooling, I can’t wait to go back and try their other dishes, along with a side of mac balls, and some of that tasty looking dessert they had up at the counter. How I wish I was coming here all the years I’ve lived in the area. There are so many friends and family members I would have taken here, because honestly, who doesn’t love fried chicken? All there is left to do is make up for lost time, Flying Chicken, I’ll be seeing you soon for some more soul food!
