Lunch in Flagstaff: Satchmo’s

BBQ, Cajun, soul, local, Satchmo’s [2320 N 4th St, Flagstaff, AZ 86004]. Man, this place was an unexpected treat for two hungry hikers. If you are looking for lunch (or an early dinner, open till 7PM daily), head to this casual Louis Armstrong themed café.

satchmos_flagstaff_3 satchmos_flagstaff_5Good music and great food, you can’t go wrong starting with a basket of cornbread.

satchmos_flagstaff_2It had great flavor and an excellent crust. Make sure you don’t fill up too much, because they make some out of control entrees. I got the Cajun blackened catfish which was huge, and spiced to perfection.

satchmos_flagstaff_1It came with an addictively tangy sauce that screamed to be slathered over everything. I went for the plate special which came with a choice of two sides, red beans & rice and coleslaw for me. I didn’t even need dinner later that night, so filling, so delicious, I actually finished my entire plate. Jeff got a BBQ pulled pork sandwich and said it was one of the best he’d ever had.

satchmos_flagstaff_We were very comfortable inside and the food was phenomenal, no doubt we would be regulars if we resided in Flagstaff. Satchmo’s blew us away!
