Upstate New York is abuzz in autumn. So much to do, to see, everything crisp and beautiful. People flock to the farms to fill their senses with the season. Lakeside Farms [336 Schauber Rd, Ballston Lake, New York 12019] has got a lot to offer. They have a gift shop, a restaurant, and cider/cider donuts – all of your fall needs may be met.
The place was swarmed with people when I visited in early October. Some people may like this high energy atmosphere, others may want to visit in November when things quiet down a bit. You can visit the store packed with old time candy,
Fruits, an assortment of cheese doodles, and all sorts of goodies. It’s fun to browse while you’re waiting for your food. You really must get lunch here – this is what sets the farm apart from the rest. We put our order in and waited…it wasn’t too bad of a wait considering the crowd during peak season.
I decided on the BLT with toasted whole wheat bread.
It was masterful, light as air yet filling. The bread was fluffy, lettuce and tomato fresh, the bacon crunchy, just right amount of mayo, this is a sandwich you dream about. Unpretentious and perfect. Worth the wait, worth the insanity, wowie. Whether you’re looking for the fall farm experience, or just a killer sandwich, head to Lakeside Farms.
