Driving down the street of a residential area and ‘you’ve reached your destination,’ did you make a mistake? No, you haven’t, and you’re not trespassing – you’ve reached the trailhead to the Cascade Trail [182 Marion Ave, North Adams – parking at the end of the block on the right].
If a short easy hike while in the Northern Berkshires is just what the doctor prescribed, this is the place for you. The trail is approximately a mile and half round trip on a wide flat dirt path through peaceful woods.
Keep your eyes peeled for colorful mushrooms and flowers, and listen to the birds chirping along the way.
The end of the trail will be defined by a forty foot waterfall flowing into a perfectly chilly little pool.
How peaceful, how zen, take a dip if you dare!
On my visit it wasn’t too deep, waist high at the base of the falls and quite refreshing on a warm day. I couldn’t image a more ideal little nature walk!
