Polly’s Pancake Parlor [672 NH-117, Sugar Hill, NH 03586] is a breakfast institution in these woods. Opened for 75-years this family owned restaurant is skillfully practiced in the pancake art. Arrive as early as possible, and make sure to call as soon as you wake up to put your name on the waitlist as this place packs up early! And for good reason. Say hi to Trot Trot for me then head inside.
The view of the White Mountains outside the window more beautiful than any painting to me, but you’ll also find interesting relics fixed upon the walls.
They stone-grind the grains for their pancakes, if you are seated correctly you can see each individual pancake being produced with an interesting little device.
So onto these morsels where the restaurant got its name. They are 3’ in diameter, little guys, but pure perfection. I got a pancake sampler trying three different batters and three different add ins. Cornmeal with blueberries, oatmeal buttermilk with chocolate chips, and plain with the flavor of the day – pineapple. When served to me face down they looked like any ordinary pancakes. Flip them over to see they are chockfull of tasty toppings, and my goodness each combination was better than the next.
These pancakes are incredibly delicious, and worth waiting for in the morning. You will only find the best maple products to use on your pancakes at no additional cost. The New Hampshire maple syrups is hot packed on premises, while the maple sugar and sumptuous maple spread are homemade on the farm.
I indulged slathering the rich and creamy maple spread on all of my silver dollars, so divine. Their eggs and bacon were tested by Jeff, tried and true. Coffee was hot, satisfying, and bottomless. We had a wonderful experience at Polly’s, I couldn’t see a trip to the White Mountains complete without a visit.
