I found a new staple in my rotation of favorite restaurants, oh my goodness Afghan Kabob Express in Albany is where it is at [305 Central Ave # 2, Albany, NY 12206]. Tucked away in the little mall on Central Ave enter and you will see what I’m talking about. Let me set the scene: a dimly lit and quiet room with some sweet unobtrusive exotic beats in the background, perfection. Our quickly waitress came over to take our order. She shortly returned with a pitcher of water and three sauces: white, green, and red. White is creamy, green is kickin, and red it hot, hot, hot. We ordered bolani as an appetizer, a sizzling and fresh flat bread stuffed with potatoes that we unrestrictedly smothered with sauces.
Next came out gyros, his lamb and mine chicken, they were perfect.
Juicy, tender, perfectly seasoned meat nestled in a bed of fresh crispy greens and firm tomatoes, blanketed in a warm, fluffy pita. Everything you want it to be, oh yeah and unrestricted sauce. Top notch gyro. Next time I’m leaving room for baklava.
