If you’ve ever been to Proctors Theater, you may have noticed a little bakery very close by. I always thought Villa Italia in Schenectady [226 Broadway Schenectady, NY 12308] would be packed on show nights, but I was on a mission for some dessert so I dared to go in. It was indeed packed though shortly after grabbing a number on the bakery line it was called. After receiving my order I found a table. Things just seemed to work out here. I got the chocolate mousse mouse, and wow, this is the kind of mouse you would want in your house.
At the base there is an almond cookie which is perfectly moist, soft, and dense. The center is filled with a great amount of rich, yet light chocolate mousse.
The whole situation is covered with a thin hard chocolate. Oh, and there are two almond slithers for ears! It is as adorable as it is delicious, and I don’t think I’ll be attending a show without grabbing one of these mice beforehand in the future.
