On Thursdays during the spring and summer months a table pops up by the Dana Memorial in Albany (where Lark St. end and Delaware Ave begins at the Madison Ave intersection) covered with a fantastic array of plants and flowers for sale.
A lot of my household plants come from this very stand, and I’ve had them for years! Every spring I look for hyacinths and the place I usually see them is at the grocery store, and my luck with grocery store plants is never good. This year I was fortunate enough to run into my favorite pop up flower market and nabbed a sumptuous smelling hyacinth as a spring gift for my mom!
The man working the stand told me that once planted the hyacinths would come back year after year. If you are in the market for a new household plant take a walk on Thursday after visiting Washington Park or strolling down Lark St to the plant and flower stand.
