I love the feel of a good farmers market. The Troy Farmer’s Market is my favorite in the Capital Region and it is probably the only thing I like better in winter than in summer! Sure it’s great to be by the river with a breeze, but in winter I feel that being in the beautiful Atrium when the sun is shining through the glass, listening to live music, moseying through local venders, and trying delicious samples is an oasis of sorts. I still like checking out new markets to see if they can compete, but nothing has come close!
The Saratoga Farmer’s Market is open from 9-1 in the Lincoln Baths building during winter and one afternoon I just caught the tail end of it (Saratoga Spa State Park 65 South Broadway Saratoga Springs, NY 12866). The building is beautiful, classic looking, and the inside market has two levels. You have your typical produce, food for sale, honey, coffee, and some other tid bits. The shroom shakers and tea were new to me and looked interesting. There were also sweet little cheesecake-in-a-jars which looked oh so yummy. If you are already in the area on a Saturday morning this is certainly a lovely little spot to make a quick stop.
