On my last visit home I took a walk about Hart’s Brook Preserve in Hartsdale, Westchester with my Mom. The snow coverage wasn’t so bad making for a relatively easy hike.
There are many different loops to take, some with a bit of elevation than others. My favorite took us to a small pond which was iced over, and as we observed everything was completely still. The rhododendron was still green; I bet it is a different kind of beautiful in spring for sure.
After covering all of the loops we headed back towards the parking area and saw an interesting sculpture.
We spotted a downy woodpecker who let us watch him bash upon the trees without worry. We took a photo-shoot of this gorgeous guy.
Lovely little walk, so close to Central Ave and you’d never know it! If you’re looking for some GREAT bagels nearby, don’t miss out on visiting Highridge Bagels! This is where we had a quick and seriously super breakfast before our hike. Perfect fuel, perfect hike, perfect partner! Twas a lovely morning.
