I had a great time traversing Cranberry Lake Preserve recently in North White Plains. The preserve had many different trails to choose from, and we did a perimeter walk to try and see what all of them were about. Cranberry Lake was beautiful and had many water lilies in it.
We found a big rat snake near the lake.
We found a stone chamber and climbed a bird observation tower by South Pond (not too much was going on during this muggy day).
We sought out the quarry which had an abundance of life.
Frogs and fish, but most exciting for me was a red dragon fly. I am used to seeing blues and greens.
There were many beautiful flowers around the quarry, and preserve, as well!
