Today I had great summer fun bouncing around Columbia County.
The morning started off cool and cloudy, perfect weather for a hike! First stop was High Falls in the town of Claverack, a great little preserve with 2 miles of trails. The hiking is quite easy and has extremely rewarding views. You can take the green trail to an overlook of the 150 foot falls.
You can take the blue trail past another nice little falls
To get to the base of the main falls. Here you have to scramble over some slippery rocks to get a view, but totally worth it in my opinion.
I saw a pink moth in a yellow flower back in the lot.
What a pretty little park! Next stop was Hudson for some window-shopping and lunch. Relish is a cute little joint across from the train station in a quiet part of town. We scored one of the two tables outside and sipped on ice teas and waited a very short time for our sandwiches. I got a BLT that didn’t skimp on the bacon, which came with a Mediterranean orzo salad. My friend got a hummus sandwich and a cucumber salad. Yum!
Meandering back north we stopped at the Beaver Cotton Mill overlook in Valatie because we love chasing waterfalls.
