I’ve been spending a lot of time with family downstate this summer, and having a great time exploring. I hiked Turkey Mountain in Yorktown Heights with my mom.
The hike was just over 3 miles by doing the perimeter and there were some great sights along the well-marked trails. We I was enamored by a glistening leopard slug who camouflaged quite nicely upon a rock.
There were some interesting mushrooms.
An incline on the blue trail brings you to the summit, a beautiful view of the mountains in Westchester.
As we were leaving there were bushes of the freshest raspberries near the parking lot. We scooped a bunch up and enjoyed our delicious reward after hiking.
