Dining in Delmar

I love hopping over the bridge from Albany to Delmar, the quiet suburb has a lot to offer if your know where to look.

I love Delmar’s Hannaford Plaza. It’s my favorite place to food shop, but it also has a few fantastic restaurant options. Shalimar is delicious spot for Indian cuisine. Their naan and chicken tikka masala is my idea of some serious comfort food. This is the perfect meal for a cold or rainy night. I love the bright yellow walls and surplus of plants used as decorations.

The Hidden Café has some great Mediterranean cuisine. Their appetizer trio of baba ghanoush, hummus, and tzatziki is a great option, and the portion is huge with a generous amount of warm pita bread. Jeff really enjoyed the steak that he got, happiness all around!

A favorite summertime dessert idea in the area is Jim’s Tastee Freez. This place is always packed with cars and has a real nostalgic feel to it. I love their soft serve, recently I got a vanilla and black raspberry swirl which was out of this world. Their kiddie sizes are a substantial serving and very affordable.

Head to the burbs and enjoy some great grub, a hop skip and a jump away!
