Had a lot of fun hiking and exploring Holt Preserve the other day.
We encountered many different spring elements such as light rain, sun, clouds, wind, cold, and warmth all within just a few minutes of each other, it was interesting. The preserve has lots of different trail loops which might be confusing for someone who isn’t familiar with the place, but I decided after looking at the trail map we would just go right at every new colored trail to do the perimeter of the park and see the most of it. The trails take you up and down quite a bit, it’s a nice work out. You also go through different ecosystems such as wetlands and forest, and there is a rather big lake at the top of a hill that was a nice surprise.
If you keep your eyes peeled you may see some wildflowers such as this perfect little Periwinkle flower
There is a little overlook of the Heldebergs on the blue trail where you can see a red house over yonder
I noticed some very peculiar looking new growth
Definitely enjoyed this hike, and once again a reoccurring theme we had the place to ourselves. It was a bit muddy at times so be aware of that. Tick count: Jeff 1 Julie 0. Check yourselves.
