Grand Central Market: Eggslut

Last year when I was in Los Angeles having lunch at the Grand Central Market I saw a name that made me gasp and look twice. Were there any kids around? Who let this one slide? Eggslut [317 S Broadway Los Angeles, CA 90013] stayed on my mind and when I returned to LA this past fall, I knew I was going to stop in for breakfast.

I had been stalking their instagram for weeks before, but still I had problems trying to order – everything sounded droolworthy. Their specialities include the slut, a poached coddled egg on potato purée topped with gray salt, chives, and slices of baguette…also house made buttermilk biscuits with maple syrup. I wanted it all. I wanted to stay classic though, and get one of those perfectly plump looking sandwiches. Luckily I had my partner with me, so we were able to split two different sammies. The B.E.C. – with chipotle ketchup was as good as a breakfast sandwich gets – fresh precisely cooked ingredients and a fluffy brioche bun. Can’t go wrong here.

To get a little wild we went with the Fairfax, scrambled eggs and chives, cheddar, caramelized onions and sriracha mayo – oooh this was done well.Creamy, delicate, dreamy, melt in your mouth good. There are locations in Venice CA, Glendale CA, and Las Vegas NV.

I rarely go out for breakfast and almost always eat yogurt…so when I get eggs it’s the best day!!!!!!!

  2. This looks delicious – I am so envious. Love breakfast food, especially anything with eggs!
