Barbara Jeans Restaurant, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida

I was on a mission, somewhat of a mystery, for the stuff. It took me thirty minutes from Jacksonville to reach my destination. Time couldn’t go fast enough. A dark and quiet country-esque road, a breeze coming off the intracoastal. I’d made it to Barbara Jeans Restaurant [15 S Roscoe Blvd Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082].

What is the stuff? Don’t worry, it’s nothing shady or illegal. But it’s so good, maybe it should be. The Chocolate Stuff is a dessert that no one could quite put a label on. Is it a brownie? A cobbler? A pudding? It’s none of them, it’s all of them, it’s one of the most epic desserts you will eat in your lifetime.

Hot, gooey, and rich – smothered in homemade whipped cream – a large was an obscene amount for one person that I happily indulged in. Sitting outside by the water was really nice and relaxing, the service was on point. Sunset would be ideal on the deck.

Can’t speak for the meals because I only sampled dessert, but with the knowledge that they bake three kinds of fresh bread, are known for their southern cuisine, and seafood – I would love to come back here for a proper meal. And more of the stuff. Additional locations are on St. Simons Island, Georgia and Amelia Island, Florida.
