Concha de Perla, Isabela, Galapagos

Walking to Concha de Perla is a free and fun solo activity in the Galapagos, a phenomenal place to take a dip on Isabela Island. If you enter the island by speedboat, take care to notice the trailhead as you’re heading to your hotel. It’s a ten minute walk from the main stretch of town, or a two minute taxi ride, and once you pass the beached boat, you’re close.
The trail is very short along a maintained boardwalk, take your time and enjoy the sights.
Midday we were far from alone.
So many sea lions and other people shared the boardwalk.
We even saw a pup suckling, entirely undisturbed by the humans present!
Tender moments. The path ends at a vibrant lagoon, calm waters, perfect for swimming or snorkeling.
Come with gear rented in town, you won’t find any for hire on site. You may see sea turtles, sharks, sting rays, always plenty of wildlife! The earlier you visit the better, this is a popular area and the pool is much more enjoyable in the quiet morning.
On the way back our hungry pup was still feeding.

A memory we will not soon forget.
