Woolworth Walk, 25 Haywood St, Asheville, NC 28801

A very unique establishment in the heart of downtown, well worth the walk. Inside an amazing gallery filled with local art is nostalgic old fashioned soda fountain makes you feel just as if you were in the 50s. What a combination! Grab a stool and cool down with an ice cream soda.

Choose your own ice cream + syrup combination or pick from the selection on the board. I went with the macaroon, coconut almond soda and vanilla ice cream.

They also offer sandwiches and other ice cream treats.

After you’re all sugared up survey the two levels of eclectic art. I loved the artist who used window frames to create vibrant scenes.

I spent too much time attempting to find the tiny black cat in every painting of Stuart Bryan.

Seriously adored the folksy wooden works made with bottle tops and license plates parts.

The paisley bird sculptures stole my heart.

Really, I could have furnished my entire home with the works from this truly fantastic gallery if I had the space to bring it all back with me!

Gourmet Chip Company, 43 Broadway, Asheville, NC 28801

Everybody loves chips. These chips are elevated with hand picked ingredients, made fresh daily. There are so many tempting options kettle, sweet potato, plantain, sweet, savory, I was a mess. We ended up order two different kinds, the Americana which was a kettle with gouda, brown sugar smoked bacon, and cracked pepper.

They were as good as they sound. To balance it out order #2 was the Belgium, locally grown sweet potato chips with Belgian dark chocolate, sea salt, caramel, and I requested lavender be added to the mix.

Although they don’t look like they are slathered on too heavily, the flavors really popped on every chip. The portions are generous and one order is more than enough to split, but we didn’t mind the gluttony. They also offer paninis making this a great lunch spot, along with craft beer and soda.

*Good to know: Chips can be ordered online if you’re craving them across the country.

Hole Doughnuts, 168 Haywood Rd, Asheville, NC 28806

Donuts are made to order, from the cutting, twisting, and frying of the dough to your finger tips.

That is pretty neat experience. There are four flavors offered including one rotating weekly special. If you’re lucky the truck will be free, you can hop up and eat at the table inside.

We ordered a vanilla glaze and toasted almond sesame cinnamon – hot, melt in your mouth, and each was curiously shaped.
