Glaze Donuts, New Jersey

I have always been obsessed with rainbow cookies, so I really appreciate the creative community taking the classic cookie and putting their spin on it. There are a few places that have rainbow cookie donuts, but no one does it like Glaze Donuts [1055 Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne, NJ 07470]. They have multiple locations around New Jersey, I stopped by the Wayne shop tucked away in a strip mall.

From Friday through Sunday they offer the rainbow cookie donut, so massive, utterly delicious, one of the top bites I have encountered in life thus far. It was moist with rich chocolate, sweet jelly, and an excellent dough. Worth a drive from any corner of the world. One of them is enough for a meal, but we happened to order two.

And two other donuts. The samoa donut used real toasted coconut, it was an excellent rendition. The ringding donut was exquisite, the cream in the center was perfect – not cloyingly sweet like I would have imagined, just dreamy. All other donuts feel like chasing the dragon, could there ever be others as incredible as these?

I’ll keep looking, but these undoubtedly hold the gold standard.
