Eating Cuban in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Miami isn’t the only spot in South Florida to grab some killer Cuban. If you’re staying in Fort Lauderdale here are two spots to get your fix!

Lunch at Juana la Cubana Café, 2850 SW 54th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312

Tucked away in a residential area, I was beginning to think I put in the wrong address into GoogleMaps. We pulled up and still no blinking arrows. Just kind of wandering, I found the low-key storefront in the entrance way. This is totally a hidden gem. They only serve breakfast and lunch and we got there on the earlier side of lunch – but the place would pack up over the course of our meal. So what to get? The traditional Cuban sandwich, in whatever size you’re craving. It’s classic and as good as they come, with those shoestring fries on the side.

This spot doesn’t just do sandwiches, you can get a wonderful fresh fish entrée.

Service is super friendly and the food is very affordable.

Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner at Colado’s Cuban Coffee House and Eatery, 525 N Federal Hwy #400, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301

More trendy than authentic, but delicious all the same. Embrace the cutesy décor and build your own bowl or frita. Or you can take the lazy way and choose a pre-created sandwich like I did. Could I really top chicken, potato sticks, onions, lettuce, and tomatoes on Cuban bread?

I don’t think so. Don’t forget some of their killer sauce – mojo mayo and guava bbq were both tested and approved! Take your meal out on the patio and enjoy some fresh Florida air.
