Spanish cuisine that ISN’T Cuban?! In Miami, Florida

Cardon y El Tirano, 3411 SW 8th St Miami, FL 33135

Dark and romantic, killer wine, BB King playing, excellent décor – this place has got a goood vibe and food to match. The cuisine takes from Latin American cultures and is in tapas form. We ordered four small plates and each was perfect: lechon dumplings, arepitas trio, stuffed peppers, poached eggs.

On the edge of Little Havana, includes a small parking lot in a strip mall.

Mr. & Mrs. Bun, 15572 Sunset Dr, Miami, FL 33193

Peruvian roots, but not traditional infused with an American sandwich flair. Inside is bright and preppy, service is very attentive. I was uninspired by the mere idea of a chicken salad on a croissant, and it doesn’t look particularly amazing – but this is one of the best tasting sandwiches I’ve had in a long time. So rich, fresh, and buttery – the croissant and mayo are house made. Jeff went with the short rib with horse radish mayo and chimichurri on a homemade bun, he was equally as immersed in it as I was.

There are a bunch of mason jar desserts and some baked goods. Located in a strip mall of the Kendall neighborhood, parking is nice and easy.
