Lotus of Siam, Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a foodie dream town! There are endless options to choose from, it’s almost a daunting task to pick out a restaurant. Don’t fret, I’ve found the one you’ll want to dine at. Lotus of Siam [953 E Sahara Ave A5, Las Vegas, NV 89104] is a Thai restaurant with an extremely high quality of food. Located in a very unassuming strip mall with a lot of parking off the main strip, traveling here is very comfortable. It is a very popular restaurant, be sure to make a reservation and bypass the crowd waiting for a seat. The menu has so many things to choose from, which can be hard when you’re slightly indecisive! Our waiter patiently came back a few times to see if we were ready, and finally we were. It was a chilly November night so we both wanted soups. I went for the ever safe wonton soup.

lotus_of_siam_1I’ve had many a wonton in my life, and I have to say this soup was gourmet. It was chock full of vegetables, scallions, bok choy, and had a good number of fresh tasting savory wontons. Jeff went for something a little more exciting, coconut curry chicken soup.

lotus_of_siam_The idea sounded intriguing to me, but I didn’t want to take the risk. I’m glad Jeff did, because I tasted this soup and it was divine! So deeply flavorful, creamy, and filled with a generous portion of chicken. Be daring like Jeff and enjoy this soup. For my main I got a snapper in ginger garlic sauce topped with veggies and a side of sticky rice.

He ordered a creamy curry beef dish with noodles. He was a bit hesitant to try this dish, wondering if the combination would work well, but our helpful waiter egged him on saying it was one of his favorite things on the menu.

lotus_of_siam_3I am not a red meat eater but I did dive on into his noodles which were doused in that dreamy sauce, and I was sure to get some of those crunchy crackers on top. What texture, what taste, I can only imagine the beef was perfect for a meat lover – and Jeff was sure to tell me. This was his favorite meal of our whole adventure. Located off the strip, this is an easy place to visit if you have a car, and the food is reasonably priced. This isn’t your run of the mill Thai joint, Lotus of Siam serves up fresh gourmet Thai cuisine in a comfortable classy setting.
