Adirondack Eats: Sammy D’s Café

I don’t normally make plans to eat at the mall, but Sammy D’s Cafe is a joint to make exceptions for. We had just hiked Buck Mountain and were hungry and in the mood for something hearty. Located in the Lake George outlets [Coleman Factory Outlets 1454 U.S. 9 Lake George, NY, inside the Timberland and Under Armour entrance] Sammy D’s is right in the open hallway of the outlets and is quite a fantastic little sandwich shop.

This may look like just any mall eatery, but don’t let the relaxed facade allow you to pass up a meal here. The guys at Sammy D’s are really enthusiastic about their products and super friendly. It was our first time eating here so they walked us through the menu telling us about their homemade bread and house cured meats. We put our order in and walked across the way to a little seating area with big tie-dye banners and funky little tables.

This place definitely has a hippy feel to it. After a short wait a worker came right to our table remembering our names and order, even though this place was popping with people, and dropped off our sandwiches with a smile. I can’t compliment the service enough here. We decided on the chicken BLT which also had avocado, cheddar, and ranch on it,

And the chief which had chicken, bacon, caramelized onions, provolone, and honey homemade chipotle sauce.

IMG_5397After trying bites of each other’s sandwiches we decided to go half-sies, they were both so good! The meats were flavorful, sauces delicious, and the bread was warm and fresh. The sandwiches were accompanied by pasta salad chock full of veggies, what a filling and yummy meal. When we thought we were done someone came over with a complimentary dessert, peach cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream and sprinkled with cinnamon, it was soo good!

The hefty serving with two spoons in it left such a sweet feeling in our hearts and bellies. These guys also offer many soft serve flavors of ice cream and a multitude of other desserts. I would highly recommend lunch at the mall if you’re visiting Lake George or the Adirondacks, even if you aren’t shopping!
