Albany Eats: Yonder Farms

I love pie. I can’t have it in the house very often because a whole pie won’t last for more than 2 or 3 days. It starts off as dessert as it is intended to be. Then it becomes breakfast…not so different from pancakes right? Finally any time I happen to be in the kitchen I’ll have to have at least a forkful…or five. So pie is a rare treasure for me. If you are in the market to get an entire pie you must take yourself to Yonder Farms in Albany [4301 Albany St, Albany, NY 12205] immediately.

IMG_4211I recently used Pi-Day as my last excuse to get pie in my house, but you can use any party, occasion, or hey, it’s the weekend! to get your hands on one of these bad boys. The particular pie I got was called ‘Fruits of the Forest’ and I can say from the bottom of my heart it was the best pie I’ve ever eaten. And I’ve eaten a great deal of pie.

IMG_4225The fruit filling was slightly tart containing raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, and rhubarb, but the buttery flakey crust and the sweet sweet glaze on the top balanced out with savory and sweet goodness. This pie barely made it 24 hours…It is well known that the pie from Yonder Farms is amazing, however trying the samples that were out of their other assorted goodies has convinced me you could get any dessert from this bakery and be completely satisfied. This place is magic.
