Hudson-Chatham Winery in Ghent

I’m not the biggest wino, but I loved every wine I tasted at Hudson-Chatham Winery…that’s got to be saying something (1900 New York 66, Ghent, NY 12075 )! We were meandering about Columbia County on a winter’s day and decided to pop in for a tasting and take our favorite bottle to a Superbowl party. We looked about and saw a lot of award winning wines, a good sign. IMG_3308For $5 we tasted five wines: a dry white Riesling, sparkling apple wine (grown locally), Ghent blush, Lindenwald White (‘party in a bottle’), and toffee fine ruby (which has notes of heath bar and raisins, yum). IMG_3309Between tastings we were offered cheese and crackers. IMG_3310Each wine was truly superb and we had a hard time choosing, so we got two bottles. The party in a bottle went down so smoothly you could barely tell it was alcoholic. The Ghent blush is going to make a Valentines present for my Mom, hope she doesn’t read this before then! IMG_3311They also have beer tasting for only $3 which Jeff tried out. An assortment of cheeses, jams, and sauces are available for purchase as well. We tried the chocolate sauce which was divine! We loved talking with owner Dominique, and so enjoyed the feel of this fantastic little winery.
