Muscoot Farm, Westchester

My Mom and I had such a hoot visiting Muscoot Farm in Katonah, Westchester.

The grounds are free to enter and there is a whole lot to see! First you notice all of the farm animals. I enjoyed observing and spending some time with the many different creatures about. There were some friendly goats such as Eleanor, and even though I had no food for her, she happily stood near me and took some scratches (this is not a petting zoo, but I just can’t help myself).

There were many kinds of goats, sheep, and chickens.

There was a sweet cat named Gromit who purred furiously when I gave him a chin rub.

There was a big, fat, tired pig named Emma Lou, who had some sweet little piglets! It was hard not to fall in love.

These animals were all housed in educational buildings, and there were other buildings to learn about farm life in the past such as the corn crib and the ice house. There was a really great little museum about farm life which was very interactive for both kids and adults. I thought this potato planter was a cool contraption.

We were there on a day where an artist was holding a show, she did golf course landscapes.

There was a small garden filled with flowers, bees, and butterflies.

On top of all this there were quiet beautiful hiking trails. Since the kids are mostly distracted by all of the above, these trails were all our own! Paths were very well maintained and wonderful.

If you have kids or are a kid at heart and in the Westchester area, this is a real gem! Can’t praise it enough.

P.S. There is also a little snack shack
